The Dodgers did it again. They thumbed their nose at the rest of major league baseball and tapped into their massive spending account. Los Angeles undoubtedly got the best player in the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline Sweepstakes, with Tarik Skubal. However, the MLB Futures markets are moving as a result of Monday’s moves and there are still values to invest in.
That blockbuster trade also pushed the Dodgers down to approximately +150 in the World Series futures market. However, bettors do not have to accept such a short price. Monday’s trades moved MLB futures odds across the board, and several underdogs still offer interesting upside now that the rosters are settled.
Here are some teams worth considering as underdog picks to win the World Series, now that rosters are settled.
Luis Arraez arrives in Philadelphia for a revolutionary new lineup in the field
Baseball’s best hitter of the past few years is now a Philadelphia Philly. The Phillies are the baseball equivalent of a football team that airs it out and can win a shootout. The Phillies didn’t improve their starting pitching at the trade deadline and their bullpen is historically cursed. With the big bats of Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper still in the meat of the lineup, Arraez’s contact hitting style will be a perfect ingredient for this lineup.
Arraez arrived with a .324 batting average, a .360 on-base percentage and only 18 strikeouts in 420 at-bats. His ability to put the ball in play could make him an ideal leadoff hitter ahead of Philadelphia’s power bats. He could also become an extremely difficult out lower in the order.
The trade creates a new defensive alignment as well. Arraez can play second base, with Bryson Stott moving to third, Alec Bohm shifting to first and Harper returning to right field. Philadelphia also strengthened its bullpen by acquiring left-handed reliever Brooks Raley, who carried a 1.96 ERA through 45 appearances.
Before the deadline, bettors could find Philadelphia at approximately 20-to-1 to win the championship. As of August 4, the Phillies’ World Series odds had settled at +1800 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
How to handicap the American East futures after Yankees, Rays, and Red Sox reload at deadline
In the weekend of the trade deadline, you may have found the Boston Red Sox odds to win the American League at 100-1.
In early July, bettors could find the Boston Red Sox at 100-to-1 to win the World Series. Following a 15-game winning streak and a 20-2 run, those days are over.
Boston is now listed at +1500 to win the World Series on DraftKings Sportsbook. That number represents an implied probability of approximately 6.25%.
The Red Sox went for the jugular at the trade deadline. Their biggest addition was three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman, whom they acquired from a division rival in Baltimore. Rutschman was hitting .251 with eight home runs, 47 RBIs and a .764 OPS before the trade. He also remains under team control through 2027.
Boston also added reliever Erik Miller and outfielder Eli White. The Red Sox entered August 4 with a 60-51 record, a five-game winning streak and a four-game cushion in the American League Wild Card standings.
The Yankees remain a more expensive futures bet. General manager Brian Cashman added outfielders Luis Garcia Jr. and Heliot Ramos but did not land the bullpen help many Yankees fans wanted. Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton are also dealing with injuries.
Despite those concerns, New York remains priced at +600 to win the World Series on FanDuel. That premium makes the Yankees difficult to classify as an underdog value.
Baltimore and Toronto acted primarily as sellers. The Orioles traded Rutschman, while the Blue Jays moved Kevin Gausman, Jeff Hoffman and Daulton Varsho.
That leaves Tampa Bay as the sleeping giant of the AL East.
The Rays maintained an offensive core led by Junior Caminero, Jonathan Aranda and Yandy Díaz. Entering August 4, those three hitters had combined for 200 RBIs. Caminero led the group with 32 home runs and a .930 OPS, while all three were batting at least .280. MLB’s official Rays statistics show how balanced that trio has become.
Tampa Bay also acquired starting pitcher Freddy Peralta and entered the day with the American League’s best record at 66-46.
DraftKings now lists the Rays at +1300 to win the World Series. Bettors who fear a possible matchup with the Dodgers could instead consider Tampa Bay at +450 to win the American League pennant. The pennant wager offers a smaller payout, but it removes Los Angeles and every other National League contender from the equation.
Stubborn Padres Worth a High-Ceiling Stake
Despite much of the baseball world expecting San Diego to sell, Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller stayed true to his aggressive reputation.
The Padres did not protect their farm system. They traded several highly regarded prospects to acquire starting pitchers Robbie Ray and Casey Mize.
San Diego still needs more from its expensive lineup. If Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jackson Merrill get hot together, the Padres could become a dangerous opponent in a three-game Wild Card Series.

The Padres are 2 games out of a Wild Card spot, currently looking up at the Cubs, Diamondbacks and Phillies. All three of those teams are vulnerable.
FanDuel lists the Padres at +7500 to win the 2026 World Series. That is a true long-shot wager, not a safe pick. However, few teams priced at 75-to-1 can match San Diego’s combination of star hitters, experienced pitching and an aggressive front office.
The Dodgers may have won the trade deadline headlines, but daily baseball bettors should remember that October rarely follows a perfect script. Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and San Diego each offer a much larger potential payout—and enough roster upside to make the 2026 World Series futures market interesting.
